Recently, Sinoway Forest has carried out a total area of 16,000 mu of national secondary public interest forest land in the degraded sand in Burjin County, Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang, sowing 45 tons of tree species including red willow, haloxylon, sea buckthorn, artemisia annua, Caragana caragana seeds.
This aerial seeding afforestation work is the first operation of Sinoway Forest in the northern region of Xinjiang. The project is also a scientific research project in collaboration with the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Forestry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The institute, together with several desert plant experts from the Xinjiang Academy of Forestry, will monitor the germination rate of tree seed balls throughout the entire process. Through satellite observation, on-site data collection, and other methods, a scientific demonstration will be conducted, and a professional project appraisal report will be issued to provide scientific and professional basis and support for the aerial seeding afforestation work in Xinjiang and the entire northwest region.
According to expert opinions, the optimal time for aerial afforestation in northern Xinjiang should be around one month before and after the onset of the first snow. Therefore, this aerial seeding encountered a sudden drop in temperature in northern Xinjiang and the weather conditions of flying sand and rocks. It was necessary to find suitable seed balls stocking yards and temporary takeoff and landing runways in the desert. After multiple efforts, the operation team finally overcame various difficulties and successfully completed the aerial seeding afforestation task three days before the first snowfall, laying the foundation for the smooth implementation of the entire scientific research project.
Finally, the professional project appraisal report will be issued, which will provide scientific and professional basis and support for our flying seeding silviculture work in Xinjiang and the whole Northwest region.
