Students majored in forestry visited the aerial seeding afforestation base of Sinoway Forest Technology Co., Ltd.

2024-03-28

In order to deeply implement the spirit of the conference on comprehensive prevention and control of desertification and promote the construction of key ecological projects such as the "Three North", actively explore methods and technologies for desertification control, and strive to create a new situation of high-quality development of ecological construction. On March 8, 2024, Jiang Xuewei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Horticulture and Forestry at Tarim University, and teachers Wang Liming, Tang Ruide, Feng Jianju, Chen Jiali, Yang Liyu guided all students of the 2020 Forestry major to participate in an internship at the aerial seeding afforestation base of Sinoway Forest Technology Co., Ltd. (Sinoway Forest)

During the internship, Jiang Xuewei explained in detail to the students the business philosophy of Sinoway Forest and the characteristics of aerial seeding afforestation, such as high efficiency, low cost, and precise operation areas. At the same time, it can improve vegetation coverage; better achieve rapid nurturing of degraded forests and grasslands, and desertification control work.

Sinoway Forest has set up a "tree seed balls" processing area in the aerial seeding base, with most of the raw materials sourced locally. Desert tree species and grass seeds suitable for the climate conditions of southern Xinjiang are used to produce "tree seed balls" on site, using processing techniques that are infinitely close to nature to ensure the germination rate and survival rate of seeds. Up to now, Sinoway Forest has carried out 15 hectares of public welfare forest nurturing and afforestation work in the Alar region. In response to the climate characteristics of northern Xinjiang, 2.7 hectares of public welfare forest nurturing work has been carried out in Beitun and Burjin, continuously researching and improving the "tree seed balls" aerial seeding technology to adapt to the characteristics of climate diversity.

Through this visit and internship, students have gained a certain understanding of the successful experience and practices of aerial seeding afforestation, and have a preliminary understanding of the construction and management of aerial seeding afforestation projects. After the visit, the students expressed that aerial seeding afforestation technology created miracles, turning deserts into oases.

This event also strengthened the exchange and cooperation between the Horticulture and Forestry College of Tarim University and Sinoway Forest. Both sides stated that they would continue to strengthen school enterprise cooperation and jointly promote the cultivation of forestry talents and the development of forestry industry.
